It's WAY harder to beat the level, sure, but I personally have a ton of fun playing with a bigger group just because nearly every level ends with boisterous laughter. I feel that the focus of the gameplay shifts from completing the level efficiently/fluidly to just messing around with your pals/family. My defense of the 3-4 player multiplayer side of the game is that while it does make it borderline impossible to play in the same way that you'd play it as a single person, it can still be quite fun. I was really looking forward to answering this, though, so here we go. First of all, apologies for the late reply - I've been moving across the country for the past two weeks and JEEZ it gets exhausting.

but "no" to the way I think you're expecting to hear.

Not trying to hate on the game, I just think it's worth talking about it and looking at the design. SM3DW could have been more like that, they could have made it feel like a team effort, and/or they could have made the trolling more intentional and integral to the game play rather than accidental, but they didn't and players just feel like they get in each others way for no reason and since the camera is designed to accommodate multiplayer the single player suffers from it as well. The don't play with assholes advice only goes so far, when there is no way to actually "work together" just "Get in each others way as little as possible", it's not a very good philosophy, and sure you can brute force your way to the end of the level in a massive cluster fuck of killing each other and the camera betraying you at every turn, but that is not a well design challenge, sure it's fun in the same way throwing a ball back and for with friends is fun, but it is a waste of potential for what this game could be.Īs Arin said "If the formula doesn't work, you change the formula", some games understand the competitive nature of these kinds of games and make the game around the idea, Magicka was designed to specifically take advantage of the trolly nature of your partners as well as the cooperative aspect as well, thought went into how it works with different people, now I think the single player experience suffers from this, but they picked a philosophy and stuck to it and it works. I agree that jamming in pointless poorly thought out multiplayer is unfortunately quite common, even Spelunky HD a game that I think is next to perfect, does it. Then Sasquatch turned to him and replied, "HURRRRRR AHHHHHAAGGHHHH." I don't understand why when I needed you most you would leave me." But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints. "Sasquatch, you said that once I decided to follow you, you'd walk with me all the way. This really bothered him and he questioned Sasquatch about it. He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in his life. He noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints. When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints in the sand. For each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand one belonged to him, and the other to the Sasquatch. Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. He dreamed he was walking along the beach with Sasquatch.
